A new bill has been put before the State Senate in Ohio with regard to women’s and men’s health. It has been offered by Senator Nina Turner, Cleveland representative since 2008, it refers to anti-abortion proposals country wide, that are at an all-time high. The other target is PDE-5 inhibitors such as Viagra and Cialis, well known treatments for erectile dysfunction.
If her bill goes through, men would have to submit to a psychological assessment in order to get it medically prescribed, also a cardiac test every three months whilst taking the tablets and so the possible side effects are understood, a signed agreement. Senator Turner explained to ABC News, that the legislation would show men “that we care. I really believe that I’m learning something from my conservative, Republican male colleagues — the most important thing on our agenda should be regulation of the sexual health of women,” she said in her comment. “It’s time to show men some love in that regard.”In a statement from her own website she continued “The men in our lives, including members of the General Assembly, generously devote time to fundamental female reproductive issues. The least we can do is return the favour. … By implementing more intensive screenings before prescribing the medication and requiring outpatient educational services, we can do more to prevent the potential side effects linked to PDE-5 inhibitors.”State Bill 307, was written to add to the present “Heartbeat” bill, along with a multitude of other rules going through on how women’s health is dealt with in America. The statute is called “Heartbeat” because if a foetal heartbeat is found, the abortion cannot be performed, this can be bought into force as early as 6 weeks into a pregnancy. “The ‘Heartbeat’ bill is a vile, destructive bill,” Senator Turner said. “If it passes, there will be no abortions allowed in the state of Ohio whatsoever. … It’s absolutely extreme.” In all 92 laws stopping access to services for women on abortion, went through just last year, 2005 was previously the last highest year when 34 acts were passed. This information was posted on the Guttmacher Institute website. There are a few female lawmakers that have bought in laws as a protest by concentrating on men’s health by highlighting Viagra use and vasectomies. Kelly Cassidy is a state representative for the 14th district in Illinois, she headed a bill amendment to make ultrasound scans before an abortion mandatory and men would have to view footage of Viagra’s possible side effects, before obtaining the ED drug. Virginia’s state Senator Janet Howell also altered the ultrasound ruling and included that all men needing Viagra or Cialis were to get rectal examinations. The Ohio government office has taken thousands of expressions of support from both men and women, regarding Senator Turner’s legalisation. She is hoping to get other female lawmakers whom have sponsored bills for a conference. They are to discuss ways to combat those who limit women’s health rights, in order to avoid other major issues. “Women have always been an easy target. … And it is wrong,” Nina said. “A woman has rights too. She should have the ability to control what happens to her body.” |
